In order to promote communication among self-sustaining foreign communities, citizens, and resident foreigners in Daejeon, we actively provides various forms of activities together with event support. Also, we pursues active promotion of joint business between foreigners and citizens in Daejeon in order to foster lifelong, harmonious relationships between Daejeon citizens and international residents.

Raising interest in various cultures

Foreign workers (immigrant citizen) from various countries prepared their national dish and participants were able to experience each other’s food culture.

Korean participants were able to try original tastes from different countries and admire foreigner singing contest.

Strengthening the sense of solidarity and community between foreign students from Daejeon's' universities and supporting a long-lasting mutual exchange via a friendly bowling competition.

2016 Kimchi Making Festival for Foreign Residents, Students and Daejeon Citizens(shared with orphanages and elderly citizens living alone)/strong>

 

Just like the year before, Daejeon foreign residents, citizens and exchange students participated in a volunteer sharing of kimchi with neighbors in need, seizing an opportunity to experience Korean culture at the same time.

2013

Zombie Race Charity Fundraiser

The ‘Zombie Race’ was held in 2013.

All of the raised funds were donated to the poor and an animal shelter in the city called ‘Daejeon Paws.’

Daejeon Paws is a no kill animal shelter established in 2010.

It helps to find animals foster families and socialize them.
In 2013 we sponsored the first ever Zombie Race in order to raise money for poor communities in Daejeon and to make donations to Daejeon Paws, a no-kill animal shelter that was established in 2010 and provides foster rescued animals with foster families

· Route was 5 kilometers long, dubbed the “infection zone.” “Zombies” chased after “humans” and tried to steal tags that were placed on the waists of the “humans.”

· “Humans” tried to outrun the “zombies” and finish the race with as many of their tags as possible. (“Humans needed at least one tag in order to “survive.”)

· After the race, there was a party with Korean and international food, as well as music performances by local artists.

 

Daejeon International Charity Bazaar

 

To provide a community event for Korean citizens and international residents to enjoy Daejeon together.

To serve as an annual reminder of the importance nature and the value, benefits and necessity of recycling.

To raise money for the poor and underprivileged of the city. (Sellers are asked to donate 10% of all proceeds)

· Goods: Any hand crafted items, (ceramics, carvings, paintings, candles, etc) homemade food (no commercial products), used items, etc.

· Food Court: 6 boots sold food

· Music: performed by university clubs and local musicians.

 



Speaking Korean language Contest

DIC is a place for the citizens of sister cities to show interest in Daejeon and to show and exchange Korean language learners' skills in sister cities. In order to find talented sister-city students, we hold a Korean Spreaking Contest in Daejeon to boost domestic demand to attract students from universities in Daejeon.
